The built-in timer and alarm are also really handy, especially when cooking longer cuts of meat. This item is great in every way you would want it to be (its accurate, built well, good components, great value, 4 probes) except for one thing. The screen is an LCD display which is clear when looking at it straight on but not easy to read from different angles. It has a back light but this doesn't solve the issue. If your happy to look at it straight on its probably ok but if like me you want to rest it on the side and check progress you might find that you will have to pick it up to see the reading. Its certainly still great for the money, works well, has an alarm when target temps are hit so would still 100% recommend but if they improved the screen viewing angle this would easy be 5 stars.
