Both with great results. **Q: Can these be used with 120v AC house current, or low voltage only?** A: Manufacturer literature says rated for up to 600VAC. I’m using them for 120VAC without issue in an appliance. It needs to be stranded wire, should never be covered in a wall, and frankly for home wiring there are easier ways to splice. **Q: The wire that i'm tapping into (that's being poked) is 12 gauge. the wire that i'm stripping to attach to it is 22 gauge. what size/color do i need?** A: I'd go with the bigger size. Because the smaller gauge can be clamped down. It should work for you.
