I got new furniture and didn't want to tear up the hardwood floor and these things truly stop the couch from moving. If you don't want it to move buy these. I used them under a new bed frame on a carpet so I cannot address the adhesive or hardwood floor rating but I would not hesitate to use them for that. They were easy to slip under the posts, blend right in and are ample size. So far they have done the job. We previously had a problem with the fame moving whenever you would sit on the edge of the bed.
