They're too short to use the top lace holes...typically referred to as a "runner’s loop" tie. I had to buy a set that were longer. Sounds petty I know, but why have the top lace holes and not include laces that are long enough to use them?! They look great, feel great, and they're comfortable. If you're expecting these shoes to be heavy duty hiking shoes that will compete with Vasque, Merrell, Lowa, ... they're not. They're not waterproof, but they breath well, which is why I ordered them. They are a good summer-weight, light trail, mostly walking shoe. I took a short ride on my mountain bike and they performed flawlessly, gripping the pedals. The laces are just right, not too short, or long, and they stay tied.
