A bonus is that it’s rigid a lightweight and has a nice design, and a simple one strap Velcro closure that works great. This brace made my nearly three week wait from diagnosed to surgery much more comfortable. Additionally, 5 strong stars for the brace but, only 3 for the liner. The liner fits great and feels good and makes the brace all the more comfortable. However, the edges are unfinished and come unraveled quickly. There should be at least two liners included so one can be washed while the other is wore, they get stinky. Review: Finally, a splint that works and lets me work - I've been battling with De Quervain's synovitis - inflammation of the tendons of the thumb - for a couple years now. If your thumb swells during the game, you could have difficulty getting glove off. And when you do please ice your thumb to reduce the swelling. Of greater concern is the functional limitations it puts on hand use. It would distort your ability to grab the ball tightly. The point of the brace is to prevent you from bending your thumb joints particularly the DIP and PIP. But the strap holding it on also restricts movement of the MCP joint. When I wear it I cannot touch my little finger with the tip of my thumb. I would not be able to hold a baseball tightly, although I might have a strong grip on a bigger softball. This brace allows me to do dishes, swim, and wash my hands. It’s also good for doing anything where a brace might get wet or get food o. It because it is easy to wash.
