You do not have to read The Sister Between Us to be able to read this one but it will provide some valuable backstory and context into Sophia's life. Sophia is ready for a fresh start away from her toxic ex boyfriend and to find herself separate from her past and her family. On the night of her graduation, she meets an attractive stranger that she connects with on a deeper level and shares things with him she has never shared before. Elijah is in town for one night and happens upon Sophia in the woods when he is looking for a place to think. He finds it easy to talk to her and they share one perfect moment together before going their separate ways. Fast forward, Elijah finds Sophia in a bar at college and their epic love story begins. Elijah is the dreamiest. He and Sophia are the perfect match. I loved this book so much and continue to think about it. The way these character were written with their flaws, imperfections, tragic pasts, and desire to overcome what life throws at them was very real. Elijah and Sophia's relationship had a natural progression to it that reminded me of a true college romance. They start as strangers, then friends, spend more time together and the attraction wins out before they cross the line into lover and relationship territory. I love how understanding Elijah is and how patient he is with Sophia needs to stand on her own two feet. There is an equality and balance to their relationship that is couple goals. Despite outside forces trying to tear them down and to tear them apart, they find themselves and peace within each other to overcome everything set to destroy them. This book is inspirational and full of so much love that you will not want to put it down. I love that the author uses real life events , even if sad and traumatic, and really focuses on how they affect people and doesn’t just blow over the fact that something happened to this person. Save a horse ride a football playing, cinnamon roll, protective, STFUATTDLAGG cowboy 🫠 Sophia goes through so much and her strength is beautifully conveyed. Check TWs. The banter - top notch. The pop culture references - perfectly placed. I was laughing and smiling non-stop the entire first half. The second half gets so much deeper. There is still the fun, sexy element, but the character development really shines through. Yes, I cried.
