I trim my nails very short, I buff them to smooth them out, and clean them well with alcohol, and push back the cuticles. I've had the second set on now since the 1st of Nov. and it is now the 9th with no loosening of any of them. The only reason to remove them is when the normal fingernail grows out so far there is a gap between the fake nail and cuticle. I find my hair starts getting caught in them very easily. They don't look as nice either when they are showing a gap. So, I highly recommend this package. It has so many colors and styles you will never run out of options and they are reusable. Albeit hard to get the remaining adhesive off the fake nail, I find using the cuticle pusher does the best job. These are not super short, but definitely not long. I normally pay between $5 and $15 for a set. So it was worth taking a shot at getting 24 sets for $15. These are not the best nails I've ever bought, but they are pretty good! There are sizes that fit all my nails, and I have big hands for a woman. They're the standard sizes and shapes of press-on nails like every other set I bought. The colors are mostly pretty good-looking. There's one set that is pink with silver glitter and the glitter is like, chunky and jagged and I might as well throw those right in the trash. The other glitter/holographic/cat eye sets look good, as well as the solid glossy colors. You do have to file down the edge. I put on the nails first and then file them to round the corners a bit and of course get rid of the sharp bit from the manufacturing process. I use Kiss brand nail glue, the little sticky things that are included in this set are trash. If you want to wear nails for more than a day or two, you have to use legit nail glue. I've had on the brown holo glitter set for 4 days. The right thumb came off after 3 days, which is not crazy, I was working out in the garden when it happened. The nail was not damaged, I just filed off some of the old glue and put it back on. The other 9 seem completely intact and I've been gardening, cooking, cleaning, working. etc. with the nails on. I've been wearing press-ons forever, I carry nail glue and a file in my purse.
