Mostly because the company really needs to encase this pie crust in a supportive container. How in the world they expected this to arrive in tact by just layering the top of the crust with a plastic shield and then putting the cans and spreader in that and all inside of a thin clear plastic bag and expect it to arrive safely is beyond me. Even with the most delicate of handling. Actually, I was surprised at how well in tact mine arrived considering they left everything up to the service. With that said, my crust was still dented and somewhat too crumbly. I ended up having to place the crust with the metal tin inside of a traditional pie plate for baking so it didn't fall apart in my oven.You get the basic ingredients here. You're still going to need your own spices or any other special ingredients if you so choose to use them. I have them because I'm spice crazy, but it would be a nice touch to offer a little spice packet with this set for those living sparse. Everything is a well known name brand, so you will be getting a fairly safe and good product. There are recipes on the back of the pie crust label, but not for this sort of pie. Better to use the recipe on the canned pumpkin, unless you have your own and go with that.Ultimately, it's not as good as I get at my local Amish market, but it's better than the prepared ones I can buy at my local grocery store. Easy enough to make and good enough to eat.
