The felt is relatively thick and dense with a decent non-skid texture on the bottom that works pretty well on a painted desktop. It came rolled with the anti-skid texture facing inward, so the mat initially domes up. It mostly flattens out with my keyboard on top, but the sides still dome up slightly.
