The previous owner left us only one older Genie 912 1-button remote which worked with one of the doors. With winter weather setting in, it was a hassle to open the other door manually each time. This remote came up as the newer replacement unit on my web search and I ordered one on desertcart. It was delivered promptly by USPS within a few days, despite the holiday season. It was easy to follow the instructions to set this up for the second garage door in just a few minutes, although previewing a useful YouTube video on the topic ahead of time gave me a few essential tips not found in the manual. The most important of these was that the new code set via the dip switches must not to be too simple or repetitive, and must include at least 4 random switches in a different position (on or off). Apparently this is a new security feature to prevent break-ins. The other useful tip is that the dip switches all have to be either on or off (none in the neutral mid position) in the 12 dip switch mode. I than became curious whether I could assign another button on this new remote to the other door (one operating on the old remote). There was no reliable information on the web regarding this, and some even stated (including a Genie rep I spoke with!) that only one 12-dip switch door opener could be programmed with this unit. This is not accurate. After programming the first door and assigning it to the first button, I was able to set the dip switches to the code on the old remote and program the second button to open the other door. Evidently the dip switches do not have to be left in the programmed position for either door once you have assigned it to a button-door combination. In fact, scrambling them up on the remote may be an even further security feature in case the remote is lost or stolen. Bottom line is that the new remote now operates both doors without any problem. This remote is also a lot more compact in size than the Genie 912. It was delivered with the visor clip missing in the original shipment, but the vendor has been very responsive to my query and is in the process of sending one right away. All in all, this has been a very satisfactory purchasing and set-up experience. Review: AWESOME - worked with very old and very new Genie - This remote worked on my really old (like 1970's) Genie that uses two-level 9 DIP switches, AND on my newest Genie (just couple years old) that uses Intellicode 1. I was impressed and very happy to be able to operate both types. Some details: followed simple directions to get button-1 to work with my old 9 DIP switches opener; then tried using button-2 for Intellicode 1 opener (didn't work for me), so I went ahead and tried button-3 which worked fine. I didn't debug what was wrong with button-2. Since I only have two doors, I wasn't motivated to look further. Remote is pretty compact and uses one 2032 battery - most commonly available coin battery - so I'm satisfied with that too. Very easy to replace, which is also a plus. The remote is supposed to work for 12 DIP switches as well as three-level 9 DIP switches, and Intellicode 2 (according to directions which I haven't tried since I don't have these types). We received only one Genie 912 garage door opener when we bought our home, but it's a 2 car garage. The original Genie 912 garage door opener is more than $100 here on Amazon! After confirming from the description and questions answered that the Genie GM3T-BX would also have switches, we purchased this remote. After opening up our current Genie 912, I noticed that it's using the 9 switch setting to send the signal, but the new Genie GM3T-BX has 12 switches without the same option to switch between 9 and 12 switches. Almost freaked out, but I read the included instructions and they were perfectly clear how to set the new Genie GM3T-BX to use 9 switches (you leave 3 switches in the neutral setting). Matched the 9 switches to our old Genie 912 and it communicates perfectly with our garage door. Signal is just as strong: we usually open the garage door when we're almost a house away.
