I had to tap the egg twice (maybe with more practice I'll know better how far to pull back the spring), but it left a clean circular break in the shell. The shell been broken, it was easy to lift off the top by slicing through the remaining soft part of the egg with a knife. Impressed!

No more bits of shell in my boiled egg. Cuts clean as a whistle. I had to try it a few times to get the height to where I felt the spring right . Too high and it can be too much. It only took me a few times to work it out. Before this I tried the one which has a long handle but it was useless.
