Tried the fit on a 4 1/2 inch latte cup and it pops off one side. Guess you could hold it on while brewing. Haven't tried brewing with these filters yet--bought them to use at camp. **Q: Is the top of the filter open by default? And does it have like guidelines on where to open if it is close?** A: The top of the filter is open by default. This is very similar to the idea behind Kuju coffee. Kuju coffee had a great idea but the cost was a bit too much for what you got. By ordering the empty filter you can use this with whatever your favorite coffee or loose leaf tea is and drink a really good pour over coffee. I have had no issues with this product and will most likely add this to a recurring shipment. Besides the benefit of having a real cup of coffee out in the woods is easy disposal of the filter. No metal can be found in the product so once you use it...simply through the filter and grounds in the campfire and you are done. Bam!!
