I'm trying really hard, not to give away, any spoilers. Sawako being a social outcast because of her looks finally has interaction with other people. Through misunderstandings, Sawako believes that she is a hindrance and others will suffer as result of being around her, though she is being selfless , like all people , she has a degree of selfishness ,because she doesnt want to return to that life of solitude which most who have been in that position can empathise with. Her problems, demonstrated from the start of the series, is her lack of interaction with people, often has her reading the situation wrong. Because of these circumstances, we get to see character development from supporting female leads Chizuru and Ayane as well as supporting male characters Ryo and Pin who didnt feature much in the 1st book. Finally Kazehaya the male lead in the story demonstrates more of his kindness but this novel is not centric to his character.
