Review: Soundproofed drain plumbing 100% - We bought a new-to-us house that was built in the 80's and one of the things we noticed during our initial inspection was the tremendous amount of noise and sound coming from the drain fall pipe that runs through the dining room wall from the 2nd floor bathroom. I'm a contractor and was already planning tearing open the drywall to remove a load bearing wall, so I planned on tackling the noise issue at the time. I used this along with closed cell foam to soundproof a drain fall pipe running through the dining room ceiling and wall from second floor bathroom to basement. Wrapped the fall pipe, added some addition acoustic batt and vapour barrier in ceiling joist cavity, and closed up the drywall. It's now absolutely silent - completely solved the problem. Great stuff

We bought a new-to-us house that was built in the 80's and one of the things we noticed during our initial inspection was the tremendous amount of noise and sound coming from the drain fall pipe that runs through the dining room wall from the 2nd floor bathroom.
