I just put together my third (and ultimate) router table last week and have been using it quite a bit since. You have to use the matching rings, which have slots in them.Dados - in my experience the start of the dado sends a jet of dust right off the end of the table because the fence suction is nowhere near the cut. The other problem is that dados tend to get packed with the removed material. The first problem is absolutely eliminated with this suction and the rings. I did have one dado get packed, but I made a number of them when building a cabinet for the router table and the rest were completely empty!Rabbets - again, at the beginning of a rabbet I typically see a lot of material ejected hard left. This does NOT happen with the cleansweep.I made 5 oak drawer boxes (half blind dovetails) on the the table and I'd be surprised if I could have collected 1/4 cup of escaped dust. Maybe even half that. At all times the plate is virtually debris free. I noticed that when dust does escape onto the top, it gets pulled back into the slots in the time it takes me to fetch the next piece for milling.The construction is just great. Not a complaint. The front door design is simple and effective. Personally, I don't need the blast gate that's built into it because I have collection in the fence, as well. Because of that I need a T splitter near the table for 4" and 2/5" hoses, and I need the gate before that splitter. So the gate in the cleansweep always remains open. The fact that they put the hose at the very bottom is brilliant. I routed a bunch of PVC and let me tell you that it makes a MESS! It's a very fine and sticky dust because it's statically charged. It jumps onto everything and clings. When done there was NOTHING inside the cleansweep!If you get this and have top collection, as well, you will NEVER have a complaint about router table mess again. I installed mine on my table saw extension where I have my router table insert. It is unbelievable how good this works. Dust is now minimal compared to using nothing. I can confirm that the size of this box is large enough to be compatible with my INCRA PRL-V2 Router Lift, which has a plate size of 9¼ x 11¾, and some adjustment screws near the edges. The inside top of the dust collector box is just a bit larger than the plate size, so there is no problem with adjustment screws, and no need for the optional adapter. It is likely that if your router plate is this size or smaller that this dust box will be compatible, depending on how your router plate is installed and adjusted. Mine is a simple dadoe to create a lip into which the router plate just fits.I had done a LOT of routing of slots, and it produced inches of sawdust on my floor, not to mention a lot going into my lungs. I had more to do, so I decided to buy this box. I had been putting off building one of my own - a very reasonable alternative - but I was anxious to get the big project done, so I bought a quick solution. In terms of collecting dust, it does everything I need: depending on the operation, very little dust goes anywhere but into the dust collector.The dust box installs easily if you can remove your router table top and flip it upside down. Even easier if your router top is thicker than 3/4" (mine uses two sheets of 3/4 MDF glued together, laminated with countertop laminate). It did not take long. The most difficult and time-consuming part was disassembling my table then reinstalling it, not attaching the DC box.My main disappointment with this unit is the placement of the 4" dust port: straight down. It's fine if you have one permanently set up with a clamp, but in my small shop, I have to move the hose around. The ideal would have been a panel at a 45 degree angle, pointing towards the floor on the back side.Second, a very common way of using a router involves dust collection at the fence, typically with a 2.5" hose. If this DC box had a 2.5" port on the back, with a cap to seal it when not in use, it would be very easy to run a hose from the DC box to the fence port.Last, a gate to allow a variable amount of air to "leak" in to avoid putting too big a strain on the dust collector would be appropriate.
