## Description

Than any other plant in my garden. Canthus are native to much of the Americas and are particularly abundant in the wild in California. They are a well known and widely planted shrub with many varieties. Puget blue is a hardy evergreen variety, raised sometime before 1945 at the university of Washington arboretum, Seattle USA. Possibly a hybrid between c. Impresses and c. Papulosis which forms a dense medium size shrub with ovate green leaves and deep blue flowers in abundance over a long period from spring until mid summer. It is not very tolerant of chalky or wet soil but thrives in coastal locations. This plant can be used in a mixed planting or as a stand alone specimen in the garden or a container. If planting in a pot or other container. Use a good quality john Innes compost as this plant will be there a long time and peaty types of compost eventually degrade and become too packed and choke the roots. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend osmoscote pro 12-14 month applied in the early spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. John Innes is a soils based compost.

**Q: This the second time I have bought this plant from you and they both had leaf drop and died. Where am I going wrong?**
A: This is the first time I’ve had them so I can’t speak from experience. The leaf drop may be caused by over or underwatering. It would also depend where they are planted and in what compost.

Very pretty plant. Very good condition, 40 cm high, strong root system, already very nicely developed, beautiful scent, very well packaged all the soil still in place, all the leaves protected. For the price I thought they'd be straggly little things needing loads of care & luck but I bought 5 different plants & they're all strong
