I don't use it in my home so don't feel I could comment on such a bigger area of carpet. I don't think it would be powerful enough for the whole house. Great suction, easy to empty, long cord, good attachments, (only downside is the main floor brush attachment doesn't have bristles) if you need an additional vacuum cleaner this is excellent value for money and gives a great performance. I use it more than my main vacuum cleaner now.
