First, I applied a propane flame from a blowtorch directly to the stainless steel probe. It seemed to be sinking heat away from the tip too rapidly, and it only reached about 950°C. In a proper kiln or furnace where more of the tip is exposed to high temperatures, this shouldn't be a problem. Next, I pulled the sensor out of the probe and gave it a hot supper with the torch. It maxed out at about 1090°C, with the sensor and some of the wire sleeve glowing bright orange. Once it had cooled to about 450°C, I dunked the entire probe into cool water. Amazingly, the reading stayed accurate, and once I dried it off, it settled back down to less than 1°C above the reading from a standard thermocouple. I wouldn't expect it to stand up to this sort of treatment repeatedly, but it's good to know that it can handle it. Tip: if you need to connect it to a thermometer with a K-type jack, you can just cut off one of the prongs from each of the spade connectors and insert them into the jack. The temperature sensor element is at the tip of the probe, the rest is just stiff shaft to support the tip. Oh dang, I did it too! 😂 **Q: is this for temperature of 1300 c? and has ceramic around?** A: No it does not have ceramic it is stainless steel but it does work at least up to 1100 C°. I tested it in my metal melting forge. **Q: So how do I get a thermocouple the length I need?
