Sched 40 will not work safely - I bought this pipe for breathing air filters for diving on a surface supplied air hose. Divers in the past have used Schedule 40 for this purpose, but several times a filter has pressure destructed. The factor that comes into play is the heat generated by the air compressor. Plastic loses its pressure rating at higher temps. For instance, the 400 psi rating on 2" PVC Schedule 80 is for 73 degrees F. With the product (air) inside a filter the temp could reach 120 degrees easily if run for an hour or two. That drops the max pressure to only 160, from 400. A filter should not be the moisture separator also. That should be metal. That will cool the air enough to be safe for the filter. This Schedule 80 is very dependable. When used with Schedule 80 fittings all joints should be primed and glued not threaded. Seller was quick about shipping and was well wrapped.
