They are plastic. **Q: how long are they?** A: The largest one is a hair under 6". But all the sizes are worthless. Not sure why I still have them min y tool drawer. I ended up getting a metal one that actually works. Very economically priced, it doesn't take an arm and a leg to replace it if lost or misplaced. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plastic fid *by D***T on June 1, 2024* My experience is service related. I used to do back splices and eye spices in braided line all the time. My rating of this product is because I was using this product on anything but new braided line. And because the line was not new, it was stiff. And difficult to work with. The fid is only 6 inches long! Therefore it made it difficult to push through the stiff line.
