Review: Quality Medical Device - Perfect device to assist patients after hip replacement surgery. I’ve had a chance to use this for a couple of day and what a difference this has made in my ability to get in and out of bed. This device is a life saver!
Review: This exactly what I thought I would need! - I purchased the leg lifter because I knew I would probably need it for my upcoming surgery , which I later cancelled as I’ll tell you later on. I was having revision knee replacement surgery on my right knee because after the first replacement hurt so badly, I wanted my leg amputated after the second day of my first TKA. I was chronically in pain the whole time I wore it- 5 yrs+. After two years, I went investigating myself possible reasons why it would hurt like that and I read about metal allergies. Long story short, it took me three years and five orthopedic surgeons to say that they don’t believe in metal allergies until I finally found a surgeon that offered a blood test to test for metal allergies and it costs $435 and it’s not covered by insurance but I wanted it done anyway .Through the test I found that I am highly reactive to Nickel, and so I had to find a surgeon that used nickel free implants and thankfully I found one. I had the surgery two weeks ago and I’m walking without assistance (no walkers or canes) I could not believe how great my new knee felt as I took my first steps on the day of the surgery. I was doing stairs the following day, and I was ready to go home! I practiced using the leg lifter before I went to the hospital and it worked great! As far as any lack of instructions go, it surprises me how people can operate an iPhone without any instructions, yet they don’t know how to unfold the leg lifter? I had no problem unfolding it - it’s straight and it works great. There’s no kinking, bunching or bending as was mentioned in another Reviews. I did use it for one of my post surgery knee exercises for the heel slides. I used it to pull my foot closer to my body to gain more flexion and I’m already passed 90° I’m like 110° 2 weeks after surgery! I expected a lot more pain than what I had after this surgery! And this revision was a three hour surgery instead of a normal two hours surgery. So find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with and you trust, doesn’t try to talk you out of what you need. Don’t be afraid to say, “NO!” With one surgeon, I was 4 days away from surgery and I canceled it. Firstly, I never met the surgeon which was a big red flag and then other doctors were telling me about complications that doctor had and some of his patients needed amputations! After I asked his PA, if he does revision total knee replacement, the PA said he does them on a “case by case” basis. Needless to say, I left there as soon as I could and I was never going back. Update! I just had my left knee transplant surgery 12 days ago (3 months from right knee TKA) and I’m still using the leg lifter for 2 PT exercises instead of a towel. It’s so much easier than trying to use a towel! My knee is still very tight and doing any flexion exercises don’t hurt at all, it’s just that it’s so tight, I can’t get the bend that I want. I checked my calendar and remembered that I first saw my outside PT 3 weeks from surgery and I was able to sit with my ankles crossed underneath the chair! My therapist kept asking, “Doesn’t that hurt?” I told him it doesn’t. I worked really hard on the flexion exercises because I wanted to get full range of motion and the only way to do so was to be consistent and thorough with all exercises they want you to do. I got my flexion angle to 120 degrees which I think is what they want. 🤣 I was able to put full weight on my surgery leg after surgery when they got me up the day of surgery. Boy, was I scared! Remember my first nickel transplant was extremely painful and I wasn’t able to put any weight on my surgery leg. The PT accused me of not trying. I was in excruciating pain because of the unknown nickel allergy. So ladies, if you can’t wear cheap pierced earrings, you may want to ask to have the metal allergy test done before surgery. If the surgeons say they don’t know about any test, that’s most likely because they only do nickel transplants. Surgeons seem learn only on a specific kind of transplant and most are make of nickel. I heard some docs don’t believe in the blood tests though. Skin allergy tests don’t work because this is an internal transplant and not something that will cause contact dermatitis. So if you need a knee transplant, ask as many questions as you want! If you’re not comfortable with the surgeon, go find another. My doctor was my first D.O. surgeon I have ever gone to and I really liked him a lot! That’s not saying that I’ll switch to all D.O. doctors, yet I was very happy with him from the first consultation! He spent 15+ minutes with us and that’s not normal. We’ll, as usual, another long review, yet I believe it’s all important to stand up for yourself and say “No!” when you’re uncomfortable. I’ve dealt with some mental health doctors who have a “god complex” thinking they know better than we do. They don’t and when one doc went against our daughter’s wishes as stated on our MPOA , we got the Patient Advocate involved. They are there to fight WITH YOU against the system! We even were able to talk to the director a long time. Due to ours and others complaints, he didn’t last longer at that hospital. Our daughter did not want to take a certain medication because she didn’t like how it made her feel and nether did we. So when she told us that her made her take it, we went immediately to the hospital to confront him by going through the Patient Advocate first! Most people don’t know about PA’s in hospitals, yet they are there and so willingly to help! I really went off topic, yet my mind won’t stop when one subject leads to another! Have a great day!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Must have for knee surgery
*by A***R on May 1, 2026*

Aside from my ice machine this is hands down the most useful purchase after my partial knee replacement. This helps getting in and out of bed, getting dressed, going to the bathroom. Best $7 I’ve ever spent! I also use this post surgery to work on my range of motion.
