But specification seems exact and comes with a choice of Chrome or gold Plates with choice of matching screws. A very good DIY replacement latch, delivered within a few days of ordering. These are very sturdy replacements for my worn latches., supplied with a generous supply of screws and choice of brass or stainless steel fittings. The shank is ever so slightly bigger than my originals, so needed to make the housing slightly bigger, but not a major job. My doors now close with a definite clunk. Would not hesitate to order again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the job. Unsprung door handles now work just as they should. *by M***K on 19 October 2015* Excellent! This does exactly the job I needed it to. I have a couple of pairs of lovely old brass door handles whose springs had long since given up the struggle. They were looking all wonky with the standard latch that I had salvaged from the old door, so I needed something stronger. This fits the bill exactly. It has a double-sprung action so that although the door handles have a much firmer spring, the latch bolt doesn't have a stronger action than the normal one, so that when you close the door it doesn't make an almighty clunk; it just sounds and feels normal. The handles now line up just as they should, but it's not more effortful than it should be to turn them; only as much as you would expect from sprung handles. I had to open out the central mortice hole a bit, but not much, as the barrel is bigger than the old one, and the bit around the hole needed to be chiselled out a bit more as the face plate is bigger too. It took me a while to figure out how to reverse the bolt, but in fact it just rotates: I was looking for a more complex solution. All you have to do it just hold the end of the bolt and rotate it through 180 degrees. The end result is that my gorgeous old brass door handles look just as they should.
