Hard to say if it is as bright as the expired, 230W halogen bulb it replaced, but it is bright enough for my needs. It also dims well with the existing dimmer control on the lamp, (which is probably a conventional leading-edge (triac) dimmer). However, it does not dim to the same extent as a halogen bulb. It also gives a reasonably warm light, though not as warm as a halogen bulb. Curiously, some of the photos on Amazon show bulbs with different quantities and arrangements of the LEDs. The bulb I received has 64 LEDs (2 banks of 16 and one bank of 32). Because there are no LEDs on the underside of the bulb, I do not get the aesthetically pleasing glow from beneath the uplighter that I used to get with the halogen bulb. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bright with good colour balance. It works very well, producing lots of light with a pleasant hue. It dims quite well with a conventional triac dimmer unit, being very smooth at the higher end but there are noticeable steps in light level at the lower end. Maybe I should use a more modern 'trailing edge' dimmer unit.I liked it enough to buy another one - I have two free-standing up-lighters. ### ⭐ Not happy. *by D***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 January 2018* I bought it based on others' reviews. Unfortunately, I can not agree with them.It is not very bright, and I have found one of the reasons - using a power meter, I find it draws 0.1A of current consistently, making it a merely 23W bulb. Not only is it advertised as a 30W bulb, this is also what is stamped on the thing. You can buy two 25W LED r7s 118m bulbs on Amazon for significantly less.
