## Overview

The AMR Audiophile Gold Fuse is a high-performance replacement fuse designed to enhance the audio and visual experience by ensuring optimal power delivery. Sized at 25mm x 6mm with a 13A UK plug, this box of 3 fuses is engineered to eliminate the degradation caused by standard fuses, making it an essential upgrade for any serious audiophile or home theater enthusiast.

## Description

Industrial-grade fuses are typically made from: Low-grade tin/metal spiral wire: microphonics, added inductance and power degradation issues Thin glass tube body: microphonic issues Low-grade metal end caps: poor contact, power degradation issues The AMR Gold Fuse was developed after lengthy testing and auditioning and is a true reference-class mains fuse. To an audio system (CD Processors, Amplifiers, Turntables etc…), the AMR Gold Fuse has been found to bring the following improvements: Fuller body, better definition and detail Reduced distortion Extended dynamic range For visual equipment (plasma, LCD televisions, projectors, BD and DVD players etc…), the AMR Gold Fuse has been found to raise the level of performance with: Sharper picture definition Richer colours and blacker blacks Much reduced picture “noise” With AMR’s awareness and understanding of the limiting factor of the generic fuse, AMR has designed and developed the AMR Gold Fuse which addresses each of the above issues to result in a whole that is truly greater than the sum of the parts. Silver alloy fuse wire, non-spiral, low inductance design Special non-magnetic, shock resistant anti-resonant ceramic body Gold-plated end-caps (Gold does not oxidise like Silver, hence better long-term reliability) Approval: UL SA PSE CE CCC

## Features

- The electrical mains power supply is the “fuel” that feeds every audio or visual system. If this “fuel” is degraded along the way, it will not perform to the very best of its ability.
- One of, if not the weakest link in the audio/visual chain is the fuse. Without doubt, it will degrade the electricity as it passes through.
- The AMR Gold Fuse is a reference replacement fuse for all electronic products. Audio and visual products from amplifiers to LCD televisions will attain a higher level of performance as the power supply chain is no longer “degraded” by running the electricity through a compromised, mass produced fuse.
- The generic fuse is an industrial-grade item produced for one job only: to act as a safety cut-out by melting once the electrical current passing through exceeds stated parameters. Its remit has no consideration for the needs of an audio/visual component/system.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ReFUSE to hear the difference? Then , read this review as evidence.
*by G***E on 16 February 2015*

The AMR fuse does bring an improvement to the sound of your audio system and is a worthwhile investment. But read on if you want to find out more.Let me state first that I have no invested interest in this product. I have been an incurably obsessed music lover and hi fi enthusiast for years. When I bought this set of fuses I knew I could expect some kind of improvement to the sound of my current hifi system. I used to work part time in a famous hifi shop and this helped me gain experience and pick up some valuable knowledge about music reproduction. As a result over the years, I have tuned and tweaked all my previously owned systems to the point of saturation and the current one is no exception. You name it , I have done it , except for one thing: improving on the mains plug fuses currently used. Why on earth and how,may you ask ,can you expect a fuse to make a difference to the sound being reproduced? After all, a fuse is only a tiny passive device designed to protect an electrical appliance in case of a potentially dangerous and damaging power surge . Should this situation arise, most people know that it will blow out with a sharp crack. End of the story, so you think. That's where you are mistaken. There is more to a fuse than meets the eye ( or should I say the ear).Your humble fuse is in fact affected by inductance, microphonic effect, magnetic field however tiny ,resonance within the body of the plug where it is housed and even by the metal used to cover the end caps. All this can have a detrimental effect on the quality of the sound. So, on paper a high quality fuse should be designed with these specific parameters in mind and that is exacltly what AMR ( Abbingdon Music Research ) seems to have done. This company was founded in 2000 and is currently based in London. It specialises in the manufacturing of high end audio systems. So, you might say that their fuse comes with some kind of pedigree. To put all this theoretical knowledge into practice, I swapped the standard fuses for the AMR ones in a gradual manner, starting with the source and then finishing with the amplification section. The listening session lasted a good 4 hours and I selected a wide range of different types of music, including genres I rarely play. Having put the AMR fuse in the plug of the Kimber powerkord mains cable used for my cd player, a Roksan M2 series 2 , I could hear the basics of music being more clearly reproduced. The start and stop of notes, rhythms, interraction between players could be more easily followed. The whole thing sounding like a typical Linn/ Naim set up of the 80 's but with more attack and defintion.! For example, with Grace Jones ( Hurricane album) singing This is and Love you to life, there was a greater sense of togertheness and rhythmically, the sound had that Linn/ Naim foot tapping effect which was simply irresistible, Another track with Lady Gaga singing Bad romance( badly recorded!) sounded more bearable from a sonic point of view. Equally, the beginning of Beethoven's fifth symphony recorded in its entirety for the first time in history as far back as 1913 ( no, it's not a typing error) by Artur Nikish with the Berliner Philharmonker, sounded more like music even though you could still swear it had been recorded by the Niagara Falls, so obstusive the background noise was. However, you could still hear some kind of separation between instruments and above all that sense of line the BP was going to become famous for.I then, replaced the fuse in the mains plug of the Shiva Nordost cable used with my Sony dedicated sacd player. Again, the same kind of improvement to the sound could be heard. In addition to this, low level details could be heard more clearly as well as the decay of notes . The famous track Roxanne illustrated perfectly this aspect of the sound reproduction . In fact, you could swear the drum player was now in the room producing life like bass notes on his drum kit as opposed to sounding sonically impressive in a hifi rsense.Turning to a classical music track, Heifetz could be heard playing ( as though it was live) his heart out in the last movement of the Tchaikovsky violin concerto with the Chicago concert hall acoustics as a background.I finally inserted the new fuse in the Van Den Hull mains cable and plug used for the amplification section, a Roksan M2 mark 2. Playing the same tracks again simply added the finishing touch with everything sounding now more musically convincing. You may well think that I am either exaggerating or making it up as I go along but I can only report what I heard with my own ears and what I heard was beyond my expectations. The sonic improvement an audiophile fuse can bring to your system is quite astonishing. You need to have of course decent equipment, cables etc.. And make sure that your current system is properly set up with proper dedicated grounding , clean, tight connections and mechanically isolated cables etc...It could be argued that the magnitude of the improvement in the sound brought by the AMR fuse might be system dependent. That may be the case . But whichever way you look at, there is no escaping the fact that a higher grade fuse DOES make a fundamental difference as to how your system will sound. In my case, using the new fuses today has made me realise that I am in no hurry now to get my old reference Mark Levinson cd player Linn/ DNM/ triamp / Isobariks overhauled and back on track. The sound I am getting now is that good!I also suspect that audiophile fuses like the AMR ones will have the same kind of effect on audio visual systems. You should expect sharper , better defined pictures and better sound of course. So, if you wish to upgrade your system for little money, change your fuses. This is the way to go. I am now toying with the idea of trying out other audiophile fuses like Russ Andrews's. I also wish to find out whether the use of rhodium plated on the end caps as opposed to gold plated ones is better.PS: I shall be more than happy to discuss the matter further with other potential buyers on the Amazon forum. In the meantime, if you have already taken the plunge like me, enjoy your purchase and happy listening!

### ⭐ Snake oil
*by M***O on 5 January 2020*

It is physically impossible for any internal fuse (regardless of any exotic construction materials that may have been used in it's construction) to improve sound quality. Your basically paying for the gold plating, exaggerated sales hype, exotic packaging and the placebo effect.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wish I had upgraded years ago!
*by H***N on 12 June 2019*

Installed into my integrated amp, power amp and power conditioner. Significant difference. They are still burning in (AMR suggest 24hours). However the effects are audible from the first use. Annoys me that these aren’t as standard in every audio product. The only issue I have now is figuring out which direction they sound the best in oh joy :) excellent product highly recommend. Does what it says on the tin.
