I opened the package immediately and gave the bowl a GENTLE knock with one fingernail. The bowl started singing and singing and singing right out from the cold, did not need anything else done to him. I was so impressed. Very good resonance for such a small bowl. We have become friends instantly. I discovered that I don't need to go around it with the wand. I just strike it a little, not too strong and it keeps singing and singing and singing. I am very happy with it. I also noticed it gets me to relax very fast. After the second strike I start yoning Do not forget to put it on the pillow. Once, I forgot about it and did not know what happened. The sound was short and off. BOWL CANNOT SING IF RESTING ON THE HAND WITHOUT THE PILLOW. The hand creates interference with the sound vibrations. This is my second bowl. I have a 5" bowl from another brand, but that one does not sing that easily. I needed a smaller one to fit everywhere and to be easier to handle. This is the ideal size. I can keep it on my desk to use it everyday. Once again, I am very happy with the purchase.
