I had to slowly acclimate him to me using this comb. I let him mouth it like a toy and placed it around his face over the course of several days. When I do use it, I have to be quick and can only use this comb just after he's woken and stepped out of his kennel, as he wants to mouth and bite during other times I've attempted to use it. It's a great tool and does it's job once you learn how to use it on a puppy that's just starting to wake up. I will say though that you need to wash the crust off the comb within a few minutes, otherwise, it is more difficult to clean for the next time you use it. I would recommend that the other two items be a lighter color so that the comb contrasts more with the fleas. I have a Yorkie poo and a tiny 3 lb Maltipoo and this gets the eye gunk out with little effort and the dogs for some reason just don't seem to mind! The teeth are finer and a little closer than even a flea comb which I had been using.
