First pic is what grew from these seeds. 2nd pic is actual real newly started thyme. I've been growing herbs for yrs and have several established thyme patches. I wanted to use it as a border around my rock gardens and wated to buy bulk seeds. I Started these in egg cartons and sprouted over 50 in egg cartons. Transplanted once they sprouted. But what grew wasn't thyme. Idk what it is. It is not any variety of thyme though. It's growing tall and the leaves are round. Thyme plants have tiny elongated leaves and don't grow upright they kind of fall over on the ground. They also smell wonderful which is why I wanted thyme. This plant has zero herbal smell. So I essentially wasted weeks of my time and effort to plant some random mystery plant around my rock gardens. Now I have to start over with actual thyme seeds. Buying several packets of actual thyme seeds at a grocery store would have cost me the same amt and I would actually have thyme plants. Review: All 120 plugs germinated - In total we started with 120 3in pots and all had seeds. ALL 120 pots had germination and we had no plants die during the process or after we put them in the ground. You need to baby these seeds to make sure they germinate and even after they are initially planted. This isnt because the seeds are bad. All the reading I have done states that creeping thyme seeds can be difficult to germinate and are high maintenance. You have to baby the crap outta these things if you want germination and continued growth until established. On March 28, 2026 we put the seeds in 3in terracotta pots inside our little green house in our basement. We made sure to keep the humidity vents closed because they love the warm humid environment as they are germinating. The lights were on for 8-10hrs a day. After 2 weeks we switched from watering them with our mist sprayer everyday to pouring a little water into the pots everyday. After 4 weeks we switched to watering them only every other day. On May 21, 2026 we moved all the pots outside so they could acclimate to the outdoors to reduce transplant shock. May 24, 2026 is when we transplanted from the 3in pots into the ground. We were super scared they were going to die because the temperature spiked and the plants started to look very pale, and limp. But after about 2 weeks of watering everyday they started to make a come back and thrive. On June 6, 2026 is when we knew they were fine and didn't have to worry about them. The color had returned to a healthy green and two plants even had a blue/purple flower. On June 14, 2026 they have almost doubled in size since June 6. They are absolutely thriving. The plants are starting to creep across the ground and spread out. More plants are even getting the blue/purple blooms. We are so happy with how they are turning out. And are going to be planting another 30 in the 3in pots today to finish filling out up to those stones and plug a few areas we want more cover in. I will update as time goes on with photos. We are going to be starting another batch around June 24, 2026 but those ones will be white. Didnt grow one single flower, waste of money & time! *by C***S on September 24, 2025* Followed all directions & they didn’t grow at all! The quality is terrible, there was a hassle with shipping, I’m very dissatisfied with these. Not even one single flower bloomed or even grew. Not even a stem. Waste of time & money & the area I planted them in now looks terrible because it’s covered in weeds, when there were no flowers there to begin with! I bought all new fertilizer, placed coconut soil mixed in with it, and grew a bunch of weeds!
