Review: Good glue for shoe - Works well for fixing shoe
Review: The Shoe Goo works well with the damming technique - I have a pretty severe supination walking tendency which causes the outer heels of my shoes to be worn down very quickly. So I ended up having quite a few pairs of sturdy shoes of which the outer heels being worn down severely. So much so that I had to retire some pretty good shoes much much earlier than expected. Because, once the heels being worn down unevenly too much, it intensifies the existing "supination" making wearing them very uncomfortable. Obviously this type of "early shoe retirement" is a waste of money. So I started looking for some self-repair solution and I think I finally found one by using this Shoe Goo product and I am now extremely happy about the situation. During the early research stage I noticed a product (I am not going to name the name) that allows the heels to be repaired via the "damming" technique. But that product's unit price is considerably higher than the Shoe Goo's. And worse still, it does not have the "free-shipping over $35" arrangement for its large-size unit. And I knew that this type of repair demands large volume of fillers. So I started looking into this "Shoe Goo" product and read a lot about it. And I decided to give it a try based on the reviews. It turned out that this is just the product that fit my need and I am so glad that I ordered it. Here are the steps that I used to do the repairs: (1) Clean up the bottom and sides of the shoes using wet and dry paper towels. Make sure the heel areas are really clean without any moving debris or grease. (2) Find a wide-mouth vices or clamping table. Then lightly clamp the shoes bottom-up and keep them leveled. (3) Use a roll of 2-inch wide masking tape (or any paper-based tape) to build a "dam" (like a mold) surrounding the heel area for each of the shoes. The reason I recommended 2-inch tape is that, half of the tape should be on the side of the shoes and half of the tape should stand up to form a "dam" at the side of missing heels. I am attaching a picture to this review. You may notice that I was using brown tape which is relatively thin so I doubled it up to 2 layers so that it is strong enough to hold the glue in position. (4) Prepare a pencil sized flat-pointed wooden stick to be used as a touch-up tool. (5) Now open up the Shoe Goo tube by following the package instructions. (6) Squeeze the Shoe Goo content into the dammed area of missing heels. While the glue flows out, slowly moving from one end to the other end of the intended area. And moving back and forth while the glue is still flowing. I noticed that the viscosity of the glue is perfect. to the effect that the glue fills up the area and forming a level surface. I only used the prepared wooden stick to touch up the edge area a little bit. My hands were basically glue-free. (7) Now, point the Shoe Goo opening up-ward, slightly squeeze the tube's lower area on the wider side to cause the tube to suck in the excess glue at the opening. Clean up the opening with a paper towel. Apply some Vaseline at the thread area of the opening. Then put the cap on and turn it tight to prevent the drying up. This steps ensures the easy reuse of the tube next time. (8) After 24 (or 48) hours, you will notice that the level of the glue now becomes lower with a bit of "sunk-in" look. This is normal. Because, when the glue gets dried and cured, the bulk will lose its original volume. So you need to repeat the step (6) above at this stage until the surface levels again. I would even recommend "over applying" a bit because eventually it will shrink a bit at the end. (9) Wait for another 48 or 72 hours. You can start wearing your shoes. I did not write this review until I field-tested the shoes with serious walking and doing some chores. Because I was a bit of concerned with how strong the glue binding is. But I am very impressed with the result which is very strong. Hope the above is useful because I would like to provide something to the fellow shoppers who wanted to do the similar types of shoe repair.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this very flexible? Doesn't say on pkg or in description**
A: Yes it's flexible

**Q: clamping needed?**
A: Yes

**Q: Does the glue left in the tube dry out if you don't use the whole tube?**
A: No

**Q: can you repair a small hole in the top of a fabric sneaker**
A: Depending on the hole size. Maximum hole size without a cut out piece of matching color fabric to cover the hole on top, (underneath would rub again the foot), would be best to do. The glue really would work better if it had some fabric to stick to, kinda like a "bandage effect". Find some scrap material that will match and it could work. BTW, this stuff will work better on an area that does not get much stress. A hole is not to challenging if the sneaker is worth keeping. There is a lot of glue in the tube. Can be used later for another project must the container should not absorb moisture or it could dry out in the tube if the cap is not on tight. Keep temperature normal when in storage.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Versatile and Very Useful Repair Adhesive
*by R***E on 8 August 2026*

Shoe Goo is an extremely useful product - not just for shoe repair. It is easy to use and effective in keeping soles on sneakers and modern rubber or synthetic shoes. It is also a very handy repair substance for those broken plastic problems. It hardens into an almost clear/white solid that locks loose or broken pieces into place. I use it regularly for repairs (today for example) like tacking a loose cord plug into place or finishing off a cut wire or cord. It dries quickly and will harden over night into a strong solid. It is versatile and this offering of two tubes will bring you hours of DIY tinkering and repair. I repaired the zipper on a plastic raincoat that lost the pull entirely. There were just two little prominences on the slider, but it was enough to give Shoe Goo something to grip to. I fashioned (sculpted) a new base for a cord pull - saving a jacket that was otherwise unusable. I also rescued a pair of damaged plastic reader "glasses" replacing a missing corner to restore the temple attachment. This product is very handy, and it pays for itself in repairs. Two tubes is just the right amount to have on hand for a start in Goo fun!
