I have to tell you that when it came I thought 'what the hell'... but it turned out to be premature. This is a wonderful little light, has four settings and even the brightest doesn't wake my husband. It sits well on a paper back and doesn't cast shadows on the page. Charges via USB port. I don't know how long the battery lasts before needing a recharge but I have used the light at the highest level for over 3 hours without dimming. Would purchase again.

This light is really cool! It took me a minute to figure out how to charge it. You put the actual plastic usb labeled piece into a usb charger. I’ve never seen that on another device! An orange light comes on when it’s connected correctly. Took about 30 mins to charge and it’s ready to go. There are 3 light settings and it attaches easily to my old kindle. Really happy with this purchase.

UPDATED REVIEW, 2 STARS: I'd purchased a second one of these so that my son could read at night, too. After several months of use, one of them no longer charged, and the other would not remain bright enough to read for more than an hour. Now neither one of them are of any use to me. :( -----------ORIGINAL REVIEW, 5 STARS: I can't believe these are so inexpensive! It's surprisingly bright, even on the lowest setting - but not so much as to bother my partner when reading in bed. Haven't tried it on a regular paper book, but it does an excellent job with my Kindle DX. Lasts several nights before needing a recharge. I really appreciate that it's USB rechargeable and that there's no hassle with needing batteries!
