My son put it together for me, but it did take him awhile. He lasted much longer than I would have before getting frustrated... There were a couple of wood pieces that didn't seem necessary and more decorative so we kept off to increase its functionality. The upper cubbies were smaller than I anticipated and the length of the desk is a bit short as it feels a bit snug when I sit there. This desk could extend/add a few inches out and it would feel more comfortable. If the design offered you more options on the location on the desktop, it would probably be more useful as you are locked into this configuration.
