## Description

Healthyish is recipe developer Lindsay Maitland Hunt’s totally doable, delicious, and dead-simple cookbook, helping us to eat how we all want to eat—healthy, but with an occasional bit of decadence. “Take the hassle out of healthy eating. . . . for both the cooking-averse and pros.” — Real Simple “A delicious and dead-simple cookbook for easy meals.” —Seventeen.com “Beyond-simple treats are perfectly portioned.” — Redbook Lindsay Maitland Hunt has created recipes for everyone from college students to busy families to seasoned home cooks. Now, she brings her trademark skillset to her debut cookbook, Healthyish . For anyone on the move, working long hours, and trying to eat a bit more healthfully, this cookbook offers 131 satisfying recipes with straightforward instructions, using as few pots and pans as possible, and ingredients that won’t break the bank. Not to mention, you can find the ingredients at your everyday grocery store (no garam masala or açai berries here!). Emphasizing balanced eating rather than fad diet tricks, Hunt includes guilt-free recipes for every meal of the day, from breakfast to snacks to dinner, and yes, even Healthyish treats, such as: Banana–Avocado Chai Shake Peanut Butter Granola Salty Watermelon, Feta, Mint, and Avocado Salad Miso–Butter Toast with a Nine-Minute Egg Pozole with Pinto Beans and Queso Fresco Spiced Chicken and Chickpea Flatbreads with Cucumber-Dill Tzatziki Single-Serving Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cookie Designed for novices and experienced cooks alike, Hunt’s meticulous recipes offer crowd-pleasing flavor profiles and time-saving tips and tricks, and her vegetable-centric dishes, with an occasional dash of meat, dairy, and decadence, are showcased in vibrant, mouthwatering photographs. Filled with splattered and dog-eared pages, Healthyish is a call for simple ingredients, food that makes us feel good, quick prep, and even quicker cleanup, so we all can enjoy what’s most important at the end of a long day: getting back to the couch.

Review: Cooking 'Healthy-ish' is easy and delicious. - Thank you Lindsay Maitland Hunt. This is a great cookbook -- it has beautiful pictures and a chatty, sensible vibe. You show us that cooking healthy food that tastes good is achievable. The cooking directions are clear and I like the suggestions for sensible shortcuts (e.g. use a rotisserie chicken from the market). Since it arrived, I've already made a number of recipes--I've even made the Red Lentil soup twice! This book has earned a place on my shelf of 'frequently used cookbooks'. Several of the recipes provide great ideas and tips/techniques that are transferable. The Cauliflower Frittata is a great weeknight supper, and I love the technique of using just one pan. This can be applied to other frittatas as well! The Arctic Char and Cucumber/Radish salad is a great combination, and the salad would be delicious with other roasted meat or fish. The buckwheat bars are a tasty treat. Finally, this book features a comprehensive index in a type font that is easy to read. The separate 'special diet' indexes are really helpful. They make it easy to find recipes that are gluten-free, dairy-free or vegetarian.
Review: The recipes are delicious and easy to follow! - I love this cookbook. The recipes come out exactly as explained in the book - no surprises and very easy to follow. I have been making soups this October to eat and freeze the leftovers. I bought a case of mason jars and intend to fill my freezer with soups to enjoy this winter. I made the Curried Sweet Potato soup and it was delicious. The consistency was perfect - not too thick and not too watery. It has a subtle bite, which adds to the complexity of the flavors. This recipe made enough to feed my husband, bring to a neighbors house, and fill several mason jars to defrost next month. I used Lindsay's Whole Poached Chicken with bonus Stock, used the stock I needed for the soup, and froze the rest of the chicken stock for future soups. Lindsay's recipes are also very practical. The tips at the back of the book are very helpful - how to peel garlic quickly and slice squash. I ordered several copies and this is my "go to" hostess gift this fall for my friends.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a find!
*by H***S on January 13, 2018*

What a find! I purchased Healthyish as a gift for a friend who loves to cook and ended up keeping the copy for myself. Not only is this a beautiful cookbook, the recipes are innovative, yet not beyond the capabilities of an “every day” chef. The no cook lunches are delicious and easy to assemble and the soups (as well as the coconut curry noodles) are perfect for a one dish meal at home or a care package for a friend who is under the weather or just needs some comfort food. I still feel a little guilty about highjacking a gift, but I have ordered more copies and know that my popularity rating will soar as I share this wonderful find with friends who love to cook and to eat. Thank you, Ms. Hunt!!
