You can easily force the screw into a working component or it could affect the light output. Just use JB Weld, or Silicone. Or dont be cheap and buy $5 Projector Shroud Centric Rings that will make the shroud "click" on and off the projectors housing and wont require any screws (LOL!) or JB Weld. **Q: Exactly how long is the projector?** A: The projector is already installed in my car but if I had to guess i'd say the total length from the projector lens to the end of its housing is around 6 inches. This is just my guess. I retrofitted it in a 99 civic headlamp with no clearance issues.
