Although it doesn't have the once-per-second ticking of a traditional quartz clock, the continuous motion of the second hand is not really silent. In fact, it is pretty loud. Instead of ticking every second, it is ticking once every 200 milliseconds. This is particularly loud in quiet surroundings, and sounds like constant mechanical buzzing. Not good for sleeping.2. The battery hatch design seems like an afterthought. The lid easily falls into the battery compartment as the space is too large and there is no mechanism to prevent falling. You will immediately notice this when you install the battery.3. The illumination light seems to be incandescent light instead of LED.
