Review: Very good quality, easy to fit. - Very good quality and easy to fit. Bought to replace my original with a broken door due to wind damage and decided to buy a second one to match as it looked so good. The locks, hinges and overall construction are very good quality and the door can be hung to hinge from either side. Also included is a reversible plastic insert to label the box appropriately with an "E" or "G" depending on the service within. When fitting make sure you fit the door so that that the latch is orientated "up" and drops down to lock the door not the other way around as this is why most doors swing open and break... the wind rattles them and eventually the latch drops down to open the door. With it correctly orientated if it rattles in the wind it will only serve to engage the locking bar further so that the wind can't shake the door loose causing it to open. Very easy to fit over the existing old cabinet, just remove the old door leaving the cabinet frame in place and this fits over/around the old one. This does make it slightly larger than the original installation though so if your cabinets are particularly close together or have another obstruction very close by then these may not be suitable but for 99% of the time they will be perfect.

**Q: My gas meter is attached to the wall in the porch, not in a meter box .  Would this item be suitable to cover it up by attaching it to the wall?**
A: My meters are recessed into the wall this cover would not be deep enough to cover a meter... sorry

A: The main material is weather resistant polymer.
No stainless apart from hinge pins.

**Q: Would this fit over a wall mounted meter box? The door and hinges have broken but the rest is in good condition.**
A: Hi, that is exactly what I used it for and it worked perfectly. It was very easy to install. You will need to check the dimensions of your existing box to make sure that the new is large enough to fit over it as I don’t know if all wall mounted meter boxes are the same size. 
I hope this helps.

**Q: Don't gas meter boxes need vents?**
A: The vents are below the door line on this overbox making it universal

Very good quality and easy to fit. Bought to replace my original with a broken door due to wind damage and decided to buy a second one to match as it looked so good. The locks, hinges and overall construction are very good quality and the door can be hung to hinge from either side. Also included is a reversible plastic insert to label the box appropriately with an "E" or "G" depending on the service within. When fitting make sure you fit the door so that that the latch is orientated "up" and drops down to lock the door not the other way around as this is why most doors swing open and break... the wind rattles them and eventually the latch drops down to open the door. With it correctly orientated if it rattles in the wind it will only serve to engage the locking bar further so that the wind can't shake the door loose causing it to open. Very easy to fit over the existing old cabinet, just remove the old door leaving the cabinet frame in place and this fits over/around the old one. This does make it slightly larger than the original installation though so if your cabinets are particularly close together or have another obstruction very close by then these may not be suitable but for 99% of the time they will be perfect.
