When you let go of the spring powered hammer with one hand, the other hand holding the nail setter is forced into the nail like someone letting go of the other end of a tug-of-rope. This makes it really easy to keep the nail set in the desired place for the brief moment before the hammer end whips into place. By pulling the spring out at different amounts you can control how much force is used. It is very satisfying to use.
