The interface of this soundcard will only fit a PCMCIA slot. AFAIK modern laptops are no longer being built with these, as they have been replaced with Expresscard slots. **Q: Can the line-in port be used as an output as well? I'd like to be able to buy one of these and use it for 3.1 audio without the 5.1 splitter...** A: indeed my friend. **Q: Any chance it will work with windows 10? believe it or not, my x60 thinkpad runs w10 with no problems at all.** A: Reading off the package it says +ZS notebook audio card +minimum requirements ; Windows XP (Sp2) or 2000 (SP4); 1.2GHz processor; 256MB Ram and 600MB of free hard disk space. hope this helps. **Q: Is this the short card in the cardboard box or the (longer, more compatible) clamshell packaged unit? I have a Dell and the short one may not work.** A: This item arrived packaged in a clamshell. I'm running mine in a Gateway MT6840. Fits fine and sticks out of the PCMCIA slot about an inch from the body of the laptop. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on 20 November 2009* This audio card was bought for only one purpose - to record "What U Hear" for a Vista PC. It doesn't work in that capacity and no properly working software appears to be forthcoming from Creative Labs. The card has proven worthless to me. ### ⭐⭐⭐ works for the most part *by R***E on Reviewed in the United States on 27 November 2006* not the greatest, it works until you try to safely remove it from windows. then it blue screens. also installs a bunch of stuff at startup. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The sound is incredible with stunning clarity - like moving from standard to high-def *by K***J on Reviewed in the United States on 22 April 2015* I bought this card as an upgrade to the built-in sound on an old Gateway laptop running Vista 32-bit. The sound is incredible with stunning clarity - like moving from standard to high-def. Downloaded and installed latest driver from Creative's website and after one reboot the new sound card was up and running. The first thing I noticed with this card was that the noise floor fell to the ground - quiets are dead quiet with no artifacts or distortion whatsoever - amazing! The card defaults to 16-bit @ 44 kHz (which has softer line-levels) so be sure to go in to the sound settings and select 24-bit with at least 44 kHz sampling rate then line-levels will be big and bold. The record "what you hear" feature is a big bonus too - works like a charm. I avoided all the software that comes with the card since I already have preferred apps for recording and playback - works seamlessly with those too.I'm very happy with this purchase! ## Frequently Bought Together - Creative Labs PCMCIA Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook ( 70SB053000012 ) - Creative Sound Blaster Z SE Internal PCI-e Gaming Sound Card and DAC, 24-bit / 192 kHz, 116 dB SNR, ASIO, 600Ω Headphones Amp, Mic EQ, Discrete 5.1 / Virtual 7.1, Supports Dolby Digital Live, DTS - SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4, M.2 2280 Internal Solid State Hard Drive, Seq.
