This book fits firmly into the 3rd catagory, this is a day trading book without any mention of dividends, yields etc etc. It is also not really for someone who wishes to purchase and sell once the market improves. The crux of this book is looking into the mind set of the trader (which i found mildly interesting) and also relentless interigation of charts, performance and the methods for getting in, getting in quick, getting in big and then getting out fast. I didnt like this book as i like to hold shares for a little while, however in terms of trading (day trading) this book is excellent and will give you insights, usually mathematically derived which you will not find in any other book. Just be aware that this book is not for you if you want to hold shares more than a few days, or if you wish to take dividends. The book is almost always refering to US stocks and not UK etc. As long as you know what you are buying this is a great book! I've been learning spreadbetting for about seven months now, and have spent that time getting to grips with the what and how, the mechanics of the platform and making lots of mistakes (!). Dr Alexander Elder's book promises to teach me a lot about the when and why, so I can be confident of progressing beyond complete beginner to elementary level (rather than blowing my initial 'training' pot!). I feel excited about putting some of his observations to the test. I can't hope to write as eloquently on the book as other, more experienced, spreadbettors have, but it's a book I shall keep hold of and keep returning to.
