Review: American History Comic Book - I really like this book. I have a second grade boy, who at times has been hard to persuade to read. When we got this book, he only wanted to read the graphic novel format. This worked wonderfully. He still pulls tidbits out of thin air and when I ask where he learned that fact, he says, "from that history comic book you got me." Hey, if a comic book helps him learn history, I'm all for it. It's short, it's only a small portion of history, but it's a good introduction, especially if you have a child that is interested in comics.

I really like this book. I have a second grade boy, who at times has been hard to persuade to read. When we got this book, he only wanted to read the graphic novel format. This worked wonderfully. He still pulls tidbits out of thin air and when I ask where he learned that fact, he says, "from that history comic book you got me." Hey, if a comic book helps him learn history, I'm all for it. It's short, it's only a small portion of history, but it's a good introduction, especially if you have a child that is interested in comics.

I used the Boston Tea Party Comic and the Women's Rights Comic as soon as I got this book with my 7th and 8th graders. They enjoyed it and it was a good start to class discussion. I wish there were more comics in this book though, there is nothing on Civil Rights, the World Wars, or Vietnam.
