They are definitely opaque. I’m usually a uk size 14 therefore, I ordered the large size which fits well. However, because I’m 5’3 I had to take them to a very skilled local tailor lady to have them shortened. She warned me that the bottom of the legs won’t snug the ankles anymore but that’s it’s not an issue for me because I’ll wear them with ankle boots so no one will notice. Also, I’ll have a bit more room for blood circulation which is important for me as I had a leg operation earlier on this year.
