Eventually with the 1st style I got my pup to go up... veryyy slooowlyyy, but he was extremely hesitant and worse going down. It took a lot of coercion and me standing right there for him to even use it. I bought it because he injured his leg and my bed is really high. At almost 9 yrs old & a small boy, only 10 lbs, I felt it was time to teach him a new way of getting on & off my bed so he doesn't end up doing major damage to himself. I decided the stairs version was still putting too much pressure on his hind legs with each step up and was also afraid he would fall off going down, so sent the stairs back and bought this 5 curved steps version instead. He took to it immediately!!! There's no pressure on his legs to walk up and he looks very confident and safe going both up & down. I wish it was a bit wider for better stability and not sure how it supports a heavier dog, but other reviews and videos seem to look fine. I love the material, the beige color is really nice and it immediately expanded into perfect shape. I know some people end up with defective ones, but they really should send it back for a replacement rather than forgetting it altogether because both the 1st style and this one inflated perfectly. I 'm extremely happy with my purchase and so is my baby.
