No such problem here - there were birds (chickadees, house finches, and goldfinches) using it before I even got back to the back door.Feeder seems solid and sturdy, also is attractive and holds plenty of bird seed. Their weight on the perches closes off the feeding areas. After a week the squirrels are just eating the bird food that drops to the ground. The smaller sparrows eat all day and share the feeder with the blue jays and black birds. The feeding tube is made of sturdy plastic, is easy to fill and the screw top hook blocks any water from seeping in. The only negative is that when the seed goes below the middle feeding perches the birds can only access the food from the bottom. The only surprise is It’s not quite as popular with the birds as the old one was, I think because the old feeder sloshed seed around so much the birds could empty it in a day. This one only allows a bird to get one or two seeds at a time. The seeds last a long time, but I think the birds don’t want to work quite that hard….since it’s warm, they have lots of food sources.
