A: No they aren’t weighted, but they do have a good solid feel to them and natural weight. They aren’t like plywood light! They are perfect weight!

A: The size of the board squares is 2" and the pieces are made of wood.

**Q: How does this 17x17 chessboard close? Is there a latch or lock to keep it closed when folded? The 15min model seems to have that based on the pics.**
A: The chess pieces hook to the underside of the board with elastic and the board folds in half to close.  No latch to lock closed.
