Most likely to be a heated wire inside a ceramic or some other insulating sheath within the aluminium tubing of the dryer **Q: whats the maximum weight it can take?** A: Not sure but I hang lots of fairly wet clothes on it (I hand wash and hand wring) it appears strong. Heats up really quickly and it’s super light. The cover is a little flimsy but when it’s on it actually heats up a room like a small radiator. We use it in the conservatory and over the cold period it’s kept it warm in there without the need for putting heating on so that’s a bonus. Would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the flimsy cover.
