Soundwise, I can't really tell because I never use the 550. What I read about it, it's there is not a big diffrence about sound. So these are almost exactly the same headphone, the major advantage about this is the detachable cable, for example I have several with different lengths for different situations (long one for office, short one for commuting etc.). Hope this help you. **Q: What is the difference between these and the "K553 Pro" model?** A: My understanding was essentially nothing **Q: Does it sound the same as the k553 ?** A: Never tried those. I read about it a lot before buying them, it suppose to be the same headphone except for the detachable cable, which it's a big advantage. **Q: Would an AMP benefit this headset any?** A: Never tried with one, I assume as any other headset it will always benefit with an AMP. I use this one with my phone without problem, not really loud but loud enough. I used with a Iphone 6, later with a Xiaomi, now with a Pixel 3a.
