This product compares evenly with the quality of other D.O.P. canned tomatoes I've tried costing up to $36,00/6-28oz products. You'll find about 8 tomaties per can plus juices. There is a nice ripe texture when the tomatoes are hand-squeezed into the pot. Tomato flavor is rich, with a hint of sweetness. No reason to pay more for other products.As with the other D.O.P. tomato products, most of the time I like to chop and add some sun-dried tomatoes-in-oil which I always keep in my fridge.My most recent use of the Tedone D.O.P. tomatoes was a "KISS" approach which turned out well. I usually finely dice onion, celery, and carrot (the trifecta of aromatics) to start a sauce. Saute in olive oil until limp then toss in some slivered garlic... wait 30 seconds ... and deglaze with red wine... then add the tomatoes and sun-dried tomatoes. This time I skipped the trifecta and started with sauteing sliced calumatta (kalamata) olives and Hatch green chiles and some dried "Italian Seasoning" from Sams' Club. Salt and pepper to taste.
