Have not seen it since 1945, when it was released just at the end of the war, the pure escapism which it provided in those dark days was vividly re-ignited for me. Danny Kaye is a multi-talented entertainer, the likes of which no longer exist. The huge Hollywood studio orchestra, and the vivid Broadway type score sweep one along right from the beginning.In addition this is Technicolor 1940s style, bright and vivid, nothing like the more natural subdued tones of today's films.Not everyone will enjoy this, but for old codgers like me, and my wife it is a veritable feast, for both the eyes, and ears.The print is excellent. It must have been restored, but no credit is given for this.It will play on any machine, and has the option of Korean subtitles, English subtitles, or no subtitles, and it has the totally original soundtrack.Delivery is slow,(hence the 4 stars) but for my money, it is well worth the wait. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The sound is fine, the film wonderful, warning about aspect ratio *by D***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 November 2012* As others have said, the film is superb. Funny throughout, so many classic comedy scenes, culminating in Danny trying to sing grand opera whilst communicating with the D.A. who is in a box alongside the stage, constantly being interrupted by the soprano, AND avoiding the two thugs with guns who are out to kill him... brilliant. Of course, the Marx brothers did something like it earlier and Danny does similar routines in other films but so what? It's all near-genius.Have no fears about the sound - even if you don't understand a word of Italian, getting the English option from the menu is very straightforward.What I couldn't solve was the aspect ratio. As it says on the box, the film was made in 4:3 but I couldn't get it to play that way. I tried it with two different players and tried every possible permutation of the display settings but it always completely filled the screen of a wide screen TV by either cutting off the top and bottom of the picture or stretching the picture horizontally so that everyone looked fat. Sometimes you can get away with losing the top and bottom but in this picture several of the dance and comedy routines are spoiled by not seeing Danny's head, or by missing tap dancing feet.If anyone manages to get a proper 4:3 picture from it please leave a comment. Meanwhile, given a choice of this or nothing, go for it - even a fat Danny is very funny. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great service and an old classic with a timeless quality. *by M***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 November 2013* This film has been enjoyed several times since purchasing it. My husband had remembered a scene in a film that had made him laugh so much he was crying. I searched the for the film, found it and purchased it in time for his birthday. Since then I have giggled loads at watching him and his 8 year old son giggling at key points in this film. Priceless moments.
