desertcart.com: Kitty's Loo™ - Superior Cat Toilet Training Kit - The Original Cat Training Seat - Patented - USA Made - Portable and Durable : Pet Supplies

Review: OUTSTANDING product! - Before deciding on this product, I read many reviews on several other products, and most talked about the primary problem being poor fitting seats. My little feral-turned-house-cat would abandon this entire process the first (and last) time she jumped up on a seat that wobbled. This seat had the widest, latest base it seemed to me, and I was right. It fits perfectly over the toilet seat, and after she gets more accustomed to it, I will probably remove the toilet seat entirely. At the moment, it leaves about a half inch gap when flat on the bowl, and no toilet seat used. It also makes it easy to tape the top back, and tape the Kitty Loo down, which is essential for a skittish cat. In order to make things even easier for her, I bought a set of plastic pet stairs (about $22) so she can just climb the stairs up to her throne, and it is perfect for her. I think these things are very important for the process. All that said, she dealt with it all perfectly, and we are in step 3 in the brochure process, where we are reducing the litter in the center holder, to the point of having only the hole, which I suspect will be in another 4 days. I had a book that said that rising them is the cause fo most mistakes, so I'm not rushing her, and thus far she has had no accidents. It does take a day or so for them to get their aim right it seems. I can't imagine this being any easier than Kitty Loo's system. She hated the litter process, I hated it, and we are so much happier already. I tried to upload photos but couldn't make it work.
Review: Short term success; Long term failure - We’ve had the Kitty Loo for a week and Spike has used it successfully on top of the litter box every time. Today I decided I could move it to the toilet. I only have two concerns. 1) He is using it only once a day and I hope that doesn’t cause him problems. 2) The crystal litter I use includes some fine grain and I am concerned about this going through the holes in the potty and causing plumbing problems. What it the solution to this? We've been using this for about 6 months with our 5-year-old neutered male. We are at the point we have removed the bowl and he is comfortable jumping up and peeing in the toilet. For some reason he has a hang-up about pooping in the toilet. Unless we are there and lift him up (sometimes multiple times) he will poop on the bath mat. His poop is very dry and can easily be picked up with toilet paper and dumped in the toilet. I’ve decided to try compromising with him. I’ve gotten a cotton place mat which I will put in a corner of the floor. If he poops on that and continues to pee in the toilet, I will be very happy. I’m delighted to not be using litter. After deciding I could live with Spike peeing in the toilet and pooping on the floor, he changed the rules. He has never in the course of toilet training peed anywhere but in the toilet or, before that, in the litter box. Unfortunately, after deciding I could live with him pooping on the bathroom floor, he peed on the bathroom floor twice in one week. That, coupled with the fact that he always demanded I be in the bathroom when he used the toilet (he has an insistent yowl), and the fact he was peeing only once or twice a day and pooping only about every other day (that didn’t seem healthy), I gave up on the toilet training after six months. He’s now back to the litter box and I’m again dealing with litter tracked on my bathroom floor and the associated duties. It was nice while it lasted but the Kitty Loo did not turn out to be a long term alternative to a litter box.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can older cats be trained on this, or do you have to start with a kitten?**
A: People claim that older cats can be trained. I had a 3 month old kitten I toilet trained very successfully, I thought, but once I let him go out on the screened in porch he refused to use the toilet and started going on the top of chairs every opportunity he could. I gave up and got some kitty litter and a cat box and he was so happy to be doing his cat thing. It was like he was in kitty heaven.

**Q: It appears this flips up so humans can use the facilities as well..right?**
A: Kittys Loo does not attach onto the toilet.it just sits on top of the human toilet seat. Visit their website www.kittysloo.com to see and read more.

**Q: Can someone tell me if it truly fits an elongated toilet seat? The other one I bought states that it does, but it doesn't.**
A: We have a cheap toilet that came with a cheap, plastic seat. We didn't bother changing out the seat because it works just fine. The Kitty's Loo, however, doesn't fit that very well. I did buy extra pads, just in case, but those were not quite enough to keep it completely stable. I ended up using a couple of little strips of masking tape on the sides to keep it from sliding when kitty jumps on and off. I think if we had a better quality toilet seat, it would probably fit just fine.

**Q: Could this fit a modern square toilet??? 😥**
A: Yes it does. Just verify the opening measurements. The underside rim of Kit Loo measures 9.5” x 7”. We have sold to European countries that have square seats and they are so happy with Kitty’s Loo that it fits and their cats are litter free!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It’s working!!!!
*by M***W on June 1, 2021*

UPDATE: My cat is completely toilet trained & the only awkward part is that sometimes you have to wait until he’s finished to use the toilet yourself. Ok, so we’re not completely finished training, but I’m just too excited to wait any longer to review! I was so so weary that this would not work. The bowl for the litter seemed to small, and my kitty was super picky about the type of litter he uses. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get home to switch to the pellets that can be used on the toilet. But Luca took right to it. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. We started Luca on the seat on top of a small litter box, right next to the toilet. LoL, he became bathroom buddies with everyone. Anytime one of us went to use the toilet, so did he! Just like potty training my kids 😂 We followed directions on switching from his favorite clay litter, to the pellet litter and he never batted an eye. Then it was time to move him to the toilet. We were sure this would be a difficult step and that he’d have lots of accidents. That just wasn’t the case. He jumped right up and used his seat on the toilet. We are still using the bowl on his seat, but we’re down to the last row of pellets and plan to forgo litter soon. He has had one accident since we started toilet training him, and that was because we played with him too long in the bedroom, without giving him a chance to use his seat. So that one was really on us. He has become fastidious about his toileting habits. He waits until I get up in the morning and until I get home from work. He likes it best if I’m there so that I’ll clean up his poop right away. He will still go if I don’t, but he has preferences 😉 I am very glad we decided to go with this brand of seat. I was dubious of other brands because they didn’t look sturdy, this seat is thick plastic that blends in with my toilet. It does not bend or warp. It is easy to clean and move around. I also thought it was a bit high priced at first, but my husband pointed out how much money we would save on cat litter if it worked. Honestly, it’s not just the cat litter we save, it’s the time we would spend cleaning a disgusting litter box, not having to clean up loose clay litter everyday, and not worrying about my house smelling of cat urine! That last one is the best. Yes, it takes patience. So does potty training a child. But it’s well worth it. I can’t wait to move onto the next step, but in all honesty, if he never was able to use the toilet without this seat, I’d still be ok with it. That’s not what I want and I don’t think that will be the end result, I’m just saying that I’m already pleased with the results.
