The kit is ridiculously well packaged and it took about 15 minutes to cut away all the packaging. I think the packaged kit would survive a drop from a second-story window. The glass shows no flaws. The pieces all fit together well and the joints are all tight. I've tested the kit and it works fine. I used an electrically-heated sand bath to distill water. I also applied a butane flame (using a wire gauze with a ceramic center) to reflux water for 30 minutes. This kit is a real bargain for $31.99 and free shipping.

**Q: How do i get ahold of deschem to get a replacement part for a piece that arrived broken?**
A: You can take a photo for broekn piece to us.
We can resend a new.

**Q: Could I use this to distill nitric acid**
A: Yes. This is borosilicate glassware, so it can indeed handle nitric.
However, it's a bad idea to use plastic clips, use metal ones instead.
Also, you must seal the joints with concentrated sulfuric acid instead of grease, because nitric acid is a very powerful oxidizer.

**Q: What else do I need to purchase to make this work for my homeschool co-op (biochemist mom asking...)? Regular faucets will supply the water...**
A: you need a heating mantle and vacuum pump!

**Q: Could you use this to create hydrosols and essential oils?**
A: Essential oils are often prepared using a technique called "steam distillation." You could do a simple steam distillation using this distillation kit. Here is a link that explains steam distillation in more detail:

No flaws in the glass. Everything was there. My only complaint was that they shoved the thermometer into the condenser and until I got it out I wasn't sure either it or the condenser was going to break. Yet it came out and there were no problem, so eh.. what can you say? Good deal for such good equipment.
