D-Limonene does not dissolve in water, so for most cleaning applications it's best to use it with a surfactant of some sort, ie, soap. You can use it straight, too, of course; just don't mix it with water and expect it to dissolve in it - instead, it will float on top of the water. Anyway, I used SOS pads with this to clean some really crusty areas around the gas burners on my kitchen stove - first I tried the baking soda and vinegar trick, which did not work at all. Then I tried SOS pads (they have soap in them) and that didn't work. I finally mixed some D-Limonene in with the SOS pad and that worked. It took some time, but I was surprised by how much easier it was to do it this way than anything else I had tried. Likewise, when we were cleaning greasy old moldings in our dining room recently, we found that just using soap did not work. 409 sort of worked, but it was not nearly as good as using some soap with a few drops of this added.
