This update shows pictures of the chair today. After two years of moderate use, the back collapsed. As it turns out the back's upright position is held by two bolts screwed in to the wood frame.. both these bolts bent and one broke in half.. I contacted Barcalounger to get a local establishment contact to repair the chair, and have not heard back from them in a week. They seem to be ghosting me. Original review: This chair is nicely padded and the leather is very nice as well. The main problem is with the recliner mechanism. The back is very erect and does not operate independently from the recline mechanism, so the chair is not comfortable in the rocking position. One must operate the recline footrest to an upright position to have the back rest move. When the backrest moves, it moves to a full recline position with very little effort so that the chair seems to have only two positions: full recline or hyper erect. In addition the footrest , once in a recline position , will not retract using the recline lever, but must be pushed back by leg power alone. As an elderly person this operation is difficult. No operating instructions came with the chair, so I am not sure if I am operating it correctly.
